Terms of service

By accessing or using the Hire A Trade platform ("Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you may not access or use the Platform.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Hire A Trade They apply to all users of the Platform, including consumers seeking services and independent professionals offering services.

Hire A Trade is a two-sided marketplace that connects individuals and businesses seeking professional services ("Consumers") with independent, verified professionals offering those services ("Providers"). Hire A Trade does not itself provide any home, professional, or personal services.

Hire A Trade is not a party to any contract between Consumers and Providers. Our role is limited to helping these parties find each other, communicate and arrange bookings. Hire A Trade does not collect, hold or transfer payment for services. The Platform includes:

• Service browsing and search
• Provider profiles and portfolios
• Real-time messaging and chat
• Booking and schedule management
• Review and rating system
• Subscription-based premium features

• Age requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
• Accurate information: You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep it updated.
• Account security: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
• Multi-factor authentication: We strongly recommend enabling MFA. We offer TOTP-based two-factor authentication to protect your account.
• One account per person: Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or bans is prohibited.
• Suspension and termination: We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or harm other users.

By registering as a Service Provider, you represent and warrant that you:

• Possess all necessary licenses, certifications, permits, and insurance required to legally perform the services you offer.
• Will perform all services in a professional, workmanlike, and timely manner as described in your service listing.
• Are an independent contractor and not an employee, agent, or partner of Hire A Trade.
• Are solely responsible for reporting and paying all applicable taxes on income earned through the Platform.
• Will accurately represent your qualifications, experience, and service offerings.
• Will comply with all applicable laws when performing services, including health, safety, and labor regulations.
• Understand that your plan affects how many bookings you can accept each month and your placement in search results, as described in section 6.

As a Consumer booking services through Hire A Trade, you agree to:

• Provide a safe and suitable environment for Providers delivering on-site services.
• Review Provider profiles, ratings, portfolios, and cancellation policies thoroughly before booking.
• Honor confirmed bookings or cancel within the Provider's stated cancellation policy window.
• Pay the Provider the agreed price directly when the job is completed.
• Provide honest and accurate reviews based only on genuine service experiences.

Hire A Trade does not process payment for services. Payment is made directly to the service provider upon completion of the job, by whatever method the Consumer and Provider agree.

No booking fees

Consumers pay nothing to Hire A Trade to book, and Hire A Trade takes no commission from what Providers earn.

Agreeing the price

The price shown on a booking is what the Provider quoted. Any change should be agreed on the booking before the work starts.

Free plan

Providers on the free plan can accept a limited number of bookings each calendar month. The current limit is shown on the Premium page.

Premium

Premium is a paid subscription for Providers that removes the monthly booking limit and places them higher in search results. It is billed in advance for each billing period by card through our payment partners, and renews only when you pay for the next period.

Cancelling Premium

You can cancel Premium at any time. It stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and is not refunded for the rest of that period unless the law requires it.

Either party can cancel a booking on the Platform. Because Hire A Trade does not take payment for services, there is nothing for Hire A Trade to refund when a booking is cancelled.

• Cancelling in good time: Please cancel as early as you can, so the other party can plan around it. Our cancellation policy explains what counts as late.
• Money paid to a Provider: Any deposit or payment you made directly to a Provider is a matter between you and the Provider, under the terms you agreed.
• Problems with a job: You can report a booking or a user from the booking page. Hire A Trade will review the report and may warn, suspend or remove the account, but cannot reverse a payment it did not handle.
• Premium refunds: Premium payments are handled as described in section 6.

Bookings for services found on Hire A Trade should be made and managed on the Platform. That is how reviews, booking history and reports work. Providers must not:

• Ask Consumers to cancel a booking and rebook the same job outside Hire A Trade to avoid the monthly booking limit
• Create multiple accounts to get around the free plan's booking limit
• Charge more than the price on the booking without the Consumer's agreement

Violations may lead to account suspension or termination. Work arranged outside Hire A Trade is not covered by our reviews, booking records or reporting tools.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hire A Trade and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:

• Your use of or inability to use the Platform
• The quality, safety, or legality of services provided by Providers
• Any conduct or content of other users
• Unauthorized access to your account (where you failed to maintain security)

Hire A Trade's total aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the Platform is limited to the greater of (a) the total fees paid by you to Hire A Trade in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Hire A Trade and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected to:

• Your breach of these Terms
• Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
• Your use of the Platform or any services obtained through it
• Your content or information submitted to the Platform

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising under or relating to these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through informal negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in San Francisco, California, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will:

• Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
• Send an in-platform notification to active users
• Send an email notification for significant changes

Your continued use of Hire A Trade after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
